Richard Free set up The Vintage Clothing Company in 1983. The company has since grown to employ 60 staff and now occupies a 30,000 square foot premises in the small town of Formby on the Northwest coast in England.

From our Formby warehouse & laundering facility, we process more than 350 tons of vintage clothing each year, buying from long established sources in the USA and Europe.

Since 1997 we have also been producing and selling our own range of vintage inspired clothing under the POP label. With certain vintage styles being so popular, we literally had to start producing certain styles of clothing in order to satisfy demand!

We ship to clients globally, with customers in Japan, Germany, the USA, Sweden, Norway, and of course the UK, as well as many other destinations.

Retail Outlets

We also have retail stores in London, Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds under the brand name Pop Boutique employing around 25 people.

Our Pop Boutique stores sell an eclectic mix of vintage clothing, our own POP brand as well as retro lifestyle products greeting cards and gifts. Many of the products we sell are recycled or made from recycled materials all provided in recyclable paper or cotton carrier bags because the environment is our friend.
